Leo Messi and Barça visit Jerusalem

World renowned soccer club FC Barcelona, with its all-star forward Lionel Messi, visited Jerusalem as part of the Spanish club’s Peace Tour in the Middle East.

After Saturday’s full training session at Dura Stadium in front of 24,000 people (photo gallery), the team visited the Western Wall and then took part in a reception with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres.

Sunday, the team participated in a clinic at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv to the pleasure of the 15,000 person crowd (photo gallery).

Peres opened the event with remarks about the importance FC Barcelona’s visit to Israel.

“I am excited to be welcoming one of the best teams in the world,” said Peres in a statement reported by i24News.
