Designer Dress Days

Bargain Shopping is in the Bag

Betsy Shaw, a self-proclaimed “bargain diva” from Beachwood, has already circled the dates Oct. 19, 21, 22, and 23 in red on her calendar. She’s eagerly anticipating National Council of Jewish Women’s annual Designer Dress Days sale at the Mandel JCC Stonehill Auditorium.

NCJW members, from left, Fran Doris, Wendy Elconin and Michele Kaminsky model Designer Dress Days outfits. Fran wears a Karl Laugerfeld black cocktail dress with red draping, while Wendy sports a Burberry jacket and Michele wears a Feraud jacket and bustier.

“Just the thought of being able to snatch up designer labels like Karl Lagerfeld, Escada, Chanel, Burberry, Coach, Louis Vuitton, St. John Knits, Feraud and Georgio Armani at rock-bottom prices makes my toes tingle,” says Shaw. “You’ll see me leading the line at the preview day sale.”

Shaw will join thousands of other Cleveland-area shoppers who have made DDD an annual shopping excursion for the past 44 years. This year’s sale will combine “fun, fashion and philanthropy,” according to DDD chair Linda Barnett. “Shoppers will find incredible bargains, while supporting NCJW Cleveland’s many programs benefiting women, children and families.”

Kent State University student Rachel Ferne and NCJW members gathered at Fran Doris’ Moreland Hills home to model some of the designer outfits that will be available this fall to DDD shoppers.

“This season’s fashion offerings are better than ever,” says Barnett. “I’m telling everyone to leave plenty of room in their closets.”
