For the past month Tiffany & Co. has been the sparkling new storefront at Eton Chagrin Blvd. in Woodmere. On Sept.19, 110 people visited the new store for an exclusive private shopping event.
Guests, including Cleveland news anchors Stefani Schaefer and Romona Robinson, sipped on wine and cocktails as they viewed Tiffany’s assortment of fine jewelry. Guests also got a chance to view Tiffany’s Atlas collection. Originally launched in 1995, the design for the collection was inspired by a clock depicting the Greek mythology figure Atlas that has stood in front of the NYC store since 1953. The new Atlas collection features necklaces, earrings, bangles and rings.
Although the Woodmere store is the first Tiffany & Co. located in Northeast Ohio, the store is a sort of homecoming for Cleveland. In the early 1900s the Wade family commissioned Tiffany & Co. to design an exquisite diamond necklace for Ellen Garretson Wade, the heir to the Western Union fortune. Catherine Elward, the vice president of the North central region for Tiffany & Co., said she hopes to bring the Wade necklace to the Woodmere store and put it on display for shoppers to view.
Tiffany’s has only been open for a few weeks in Northeast Ohio, but the store has already received a lot of foot traffic, especially from parents and families shopping for b’nai mitzvah gifts.
“We’re delighted to be here,” said Anthony Ledru, the senior vice president of Northern America for Tiffany & Co. “We see a huge potential in Cleveland.”
