Sleek for spring

Winds of Change is ready for spring.

No longer needing bulky winter coats that hide the rest of your outfit, spring is the time to start showing off your best fashion looks.

Anna Gorjanc, manager and stylist at Winds of Change in Chagrin Falls, shares with Jstyle how you can stay on top of seasonal trends by incorporating cool jeans, metallics and pastels into your outfits. And, no outfit is complete without accessories, and Gorjanc’s choices for elevating any look are necklaces by local artist Gena Page Designs.

Trendy jeans

“(Barrel jeans) come in so many colors, but for spring we thought this light-wash, creamy color would be so cute paired with a ruffle-sleeve little sweater – perfect for transitioning into spring,” she says.

While denim is always in style, the style of jeans often changes from season to season. For spring 2024, Gorjanc says barrel-leg jeans are all the rage. She styles Free People’s barrel jeans in the color milk with Another Love’s Mona top in the color vintage cream for a light, monochromatic trendy look.

But if the wider pant leg of barrel jeans isn’t for you, you can still feel fashionable in a light-wash jean – like Mother’s The Runaway Step Fray in the color California cruiser, or gray-wash jeans like Mother’s The Hustler Ankle Fray jeans in the color “barely there.”

Accessories include Gena Page’s Charlotte gold pearl necklace and Free People’s Coffee Date mini crossbody bag in color stone.

“(The Hustler Ankle Fray jeans) hit her right at her ankle bone, and it looks great with sneakers,” Gorjanc says.

Metallics

Take a monochromatic look like the cream-color barrel jeans and short-sleeve sweater, and bring it to the next level with a bright, metallic belt, such as the Free People We The Free Metallic Jona Belt in the color gumdrop metallic.

“That also goes with the little crossbody (Free People Plus One Embellish crossbody bag in color weathered brass) that’s great for going out for date night, going out with the girls,” Gorjanc says. “It ties the metallics together and it just has that pop of color.”

Layering is also a fun way to incorporate trends during the spring. For example, the Free People Margot Jacket in the color golden wheat combo has that metallic shimmer and can take a look from day to night.

Pastels

Light fabrics and light colors are great for spring, and that’s why Gorjanc pairs the Free People Spring Fling mini dress in the color tea combo with the Free People Flying High bomber jacket in the color denim gray.

“We have this super cute and casual, little flowy dress here in a floral pattern layered with a little jacket on top,” she says. “I love the pop of blue with the pinks, it’s really cute together. And when it’s cold in the beginning of the day, throughout the day it gets a little warmer, you can take the jacket off.”

She pairs this pastel ensemble with brown shoes and accessories, like the A.S. 98 Labo sandal in the color Calvados and the Latico Leathers Sigourney crossbody bag in the color Cognac.

Gorjanc also recommends button-down shirts to have as staples in your closet for spring and summer. She picked out two Bella Dahl button-downs, the Shirt Tail button-down in the color oasis green and the full button-down Hipster shirt with lilac floret print, paired with light-wash jeans.
