Nubeigel in Cleveland Heights is ranked the best bagel shop in Ohio by the Tasting Table media company. “The Best Bagel Shops In Every State” list was calculated using online reviews “triangulated with our own experiences and other professional reviews,” according to Tasting Table’s Feb. 29 article.

“It is nice to have that recognition, but I think more than anything, it gives you a good opportunity to force you to do a lot of self-reflection and appreciate what you’ve done,” owner Josh Admon, a Zichron Chaim congregant and University Heights resident, tells the Cleveland Jewish News.

The bagel shop, under kosher supervision by Rabbi Mordechai Kaplovitz, offers “hand-rolled artisan beigels” in multiple flavors, including everything, onion, cinnamon sugar and za’atar, its website reads. Schmears and other add-ons like smoked salmon, cucumber, tomato, onion and kimchi are available for an additional price. The shop also sells Peristyle Coffee – a brand created by Cleveland coffee connoisseur Charlie Eisenstat.

Nubeigel opened in July 2022 at 2254 Lee Road. Admon grew up in Los Angeles, lived and worked throughout Europe and settled in Israel for 15 years before moving to the Cleveland area, Jstyle previously reported.

“The idea is that I am building a business and opening my doors to as many people as I can,” he told Jstyle in 2022. “I really respect and gain a lot of diversity from different people. Nubeigel is a bagel shop that happens to be kosher, not a kosher bagel shop.”
