Blu, the Restaurant and Red, the Steakhouse under construction

Change is on the way for the restaurants that comprise Brad Friedlander’s Red Restaurant Group. 

The brand’s now-defunct Moxie closed for good April 27 and plans to reopen as a new concept, Blu, the Restaurant. With a more accelerated timetable, this seafood concept aims to open this summer.

When it comes to Red, the Steakhouse’s East Side location, construction started this past May at Pinecrest in Orange. The new venue, which will replace the former Beachwood spot, will be more than 7,500 square feet and feature a large dining room, private event spaces and a lounge. Those who like to eat outside can expect rooftop and street-level patios.

Lora Brand of Falls Communications, which represents Pinecrest, said Red is slated for a fall 2019 opening.
