Let’s go Tel Aviv’n- Matisyahu Album Review

Matisyahu’s new album “Spark Seeker” could make the oldest person in the world get up and rock side to side with a grin from ear to ear.  It makes Jews around the world feel proud and have a sense of community and pride about our people.

Whether Matisyahu is using Sephardic beats or mixing traditional Jewish sounds with reggae this album is a Mazal for sure.

Not only because his younger son, Shalom, sung “Live Like a Warrior” to him on Father’s Day (adorable!), Matisyahu’s music makes me want to sing “Live Like a Warrior” to my dad as well! However, it probably wouldn’t be as cute.

Let’s get back to the tracks on “Spark  Seeker.”

This up-beat album literally makes you start “moving and shaking and taking it up,” which are the lyrics to the rapper’s song “Tel Aviv’n” of his new album.

For those members of the tribe that have made the holy journey to the city of Tel Aviv, they know that whether it be the bowls of hummus being served on the street corners of Jaffa or the night life that never seems to stop, this song describes the city’s atmosphere to a T.

Spark Seeker” is 13 tracks of good vibe music suitable for all ages, and if you haven’t already fallen in love with the religious Matisyahu, take a listen to this album, and I guarantee you’ll be dancing in your chair.

Luckily, he will be touring the country and paying a visit to Cleveland in September. So gentleman start growing out your peyes, find your Beshert, and get ready to jam.

Your Beshert,
Andria Kaplan
